***Another banknote in Good AUNC Condition in the form of the latest RM100 series with a rather delightful purplish hue.
Of course, there is nothing worth crowing about as far as this banknote is concerned as after all, it is NOT in UNC condition, a criterion which I just only got to know that every Malaysian Pakar Numis adheres to.
But, as an amateur collector, practically banknotes of all grades are in my small collection and not embarassed to say, most of the banknotes in my collection are not UNC; in fact most are under the VG category and whenever there's some extra pocket money, I will try to go for something better, namely, around Good AUNC or AUNC++.
The above note was picked up at the Friday Night Market at Jonker Walk in Malacca last week.
Anyway, a dealer has made an offer of RM350 for this note this morning and I think I might as well accept it as after all, it's pointless to keep too many banknotes inside the banknotes' album as eventually inflation will eat into them & if inflation doesn't get to them first, there is a strong possibility that the termites will.
***Ever since the issuance of the Malaysian new banknotes series, there have been lots of gloating & showing-off by all & sundry of various banknotes with various form of serial numbers online, via blogs or on facebook, if one even care to notice.
Some gloated that they have a particular form of solid numbers while others gloated with banknotes bearing repeated serial numbers while the rest showed off some Replacement pieces that in their opinion are so-called 'rare.'
Well, I honestly have nothing good or rare to showcase as I have nothing good in my possession which are worthy to gloat about.
The RM1 ZA Replacement that's featured today is definitely nothing to gloat about as after all, this is a very common Replacement which one can find in abundance for sale online & offline. A piece can be bought for as low as RM3 without the tiring necessity of constant haggling.
I got this piece through a fishmonger while doing markekting at the Chow Kit Road wet market & shit, it's not even in UNC Condition, and as such, there is nothing freaking worthy to gloat about and I am not going to waste another ounce of energy writing about this shitty note.
***Since the new series of the Malaysian banknotes have been issued, many Malaysian collectors, dealers & whatnots have been speculating and guessing what the last prefixes are for the now old series' banknotes.
Perhaps, many already know what the Last Prefixes are but for obvious reasons are not revealing them as after all why should they, as such info most probably cannot be told to anyone or everyone under the sun just as there is no such thing as free lunch.
What is the Last Prefix for the previous RM1 series? Ask me not as I know not.
But for whatever reason or reasons, several kind souls have mentioned that QN is the Last Prefix for the previous RM10 series.
I really don't know how water-tight or air-tight this info is but since it has been repeated several times ad verbatim, I suppose, then, that QN must, indeed, be the Last Prefix, as after all, sometimes even if it's not true but if its repeated often enough, it could be accepted as the truth and nothing but the truth.
So, since QN has been pronounced as the Last Prefix, QN will be the freaking Last Prefix for me and I thank my lucky stars that I have 1,000 pieces of this QN with me!
Unless of course, some Smart Alec(s) later on come & tell me that the Last Prefix could be QZ.....
***Truly a banknote that's not worth crowing about as it's just an ordinary banknote from the latest Malaysian RM10 series.
This pocket change came as change from the cashier of a supermarket located in Pudu Plaza and the only things that's attractive with this note must be its rather cute & sassy serial numbers. Otherwise, this banknote is meant to be spent & not kept for years, as after all inflation will eat into its purchasing value. I am definitely not an intelligent high IQed bloke, but even my goldfish knows that you cannot buy the same things with the 10 bucks you have today compared to the 10 bucks you have say, 5 years ago, etc.
And coming from the hands of a supermarket cashier, one certainly cannot expect a note to be in UNC condition even though its is a UNC conditioned note & true enough, this note is sadly not or rather no longer in Uncirculated condition.
It looks more like Good AUNC Condition, or if you like, AUNC++, but do try not to crucify me if my layman's grading is off target as I am after all not a 'professional grader.' If I have missled(sic) anyone gradingwise, ok, I will go hang me...........
***This is an item that cost, at most, RM14 to get hold of in year 2006 & which had a so-called 'Authorised Mintage" of 20,000 pieces, a number considered 'huge' by so-called collectors, which must in a way had contributed to its then lowly open-market price.
That was then. 2 months back it was selling for RM250 & now, it has apparently hit the RM300 mark! Maybe, it will touch RM500 by the time Christmas arrives!
And where are the so-called 20,000 minted pieces now?Where the fuck have they disappeared to?
Even with its current price costing a bomb, not many are being sold in the market in case some very Smart Alecs out there start to fart that certain 'irresponsible' dealers have been hoarding them.
That is the paradox of the current Malaysian numismatic scene as most collectors currently seem to have the knack to buy stuff at sky-high prices.
I was taught at the London School Of Economics that one should buy low & sell high. Or maybe, that's out of date & out of touch & instead, one should buy high & sell higher...
And this is where the great Datuk Thomas Crapper comes in with the evergreen saying, "Today's The Crapper, Tomorrow's The World!"
And please don't talk cock by asking me who Thomas Crapper is.
Can you just please google him if you don't know who the freaking hell he is, thankyouverymuch?!
***My recent trip to nearby Lhasa in Tibet yielded nothing, might as well make a one-way-trip to French speaking Timbuktu instead.
However, a trip to the money-changer, can't remember which specific one, at the LCCT was really worth it as that bloke there had the hereinfeatured banknote.
So, what one dungu once told me with regards to money-changers having lots of goodies is true after all.
As such, visiting money-changers, from now onwards, should be much better than visiting those Pakar Numis' who are busy riding into the numismatic sunset or had already done so, no matter how hard they are still trying to hang on.
However, this banknote is not UNC gradewise. It looks more like Good AUNC or AUNC++ or whatever.
Anyway, do judge the banknote thru the scan hereinattached and do grade it accordingly because I am NOT a 'professional grader' and as such, I don't want to misslead(sic) anybody, if you do get my freaking drift....
***The 2 previous similar issues have chartered unchartered territories pricewise & looks like this issue is following suit, even though its mintage is very much higher.
Looking around, you hardly see this Set Of 3 being put up for sale online of late. Where have the 500 boxes gone to?
Historywise, the previous 2 similar issues have been rather popular among collectors and this current one could be the same, unless of course, some Smart Alecs could enlighten us otherwise.
Oh c'mon, don't spew the usual crap that some 'unscrupulous' dealers are hoarding them as one does, indeed, gets tired hearing this same old tired crap.
