P 23 1940 One Dollar Sarawak PMG EF 45
An obsolete but rather important piece of Malaysian numismatic paper carrying only a lowly fair value of One Dollar issued way, way back in 1940, but still having its rather unique eye-appeal of striking conifer-green hue dominating its surface in entirety.
To those who are experts in the numismatic papers issued by the nation of Sarawak just prior to World War 2, they would know that 1940 is a key-date, esp. to the one bearing a face value of $1.
But of course, according to many, many serious collectors, who these days call themselves the so-called numismatists, the key date to this $1 issue is actually the one issued in 1935. Maybe, they could be true as after all what they might lack in knowledge, they could make it up in numbers & who is one to say one party is right & the other one is wrong. Such a discussion should be left for another different time on another different day, perhaps.....

Sarawak 1940 $1 Banknote RARE

***The widely abused 4-letter-word 'rare' by mostly amateurish collectors would be most apt if applied to this seldom-seen $1 Sarawakian banknote dated 1940.How often does one see this key-date note being offered for sale online, even if it is a washed & processed one?
This $1 1940 note featured here is an original, unwashed and unpressed piece, with fresh excellent conifer color & firm, lively paper.
It grades a Good VF and that itself is considered a very high grade for this issue. Don't bother looking an authentic EF or AU piece!
The highest grade mentioned for this banknote in the Standard Catalogue Of World Paper Money is just EF.
How many of you Malaysians have this 1940 piece in your collection?
How can you gloat if you don't have this 1940 piece in your Sarawak collection?
This is what a 'rare' banknote is all about.

Sarawak 1940 $1

***This is a seldom-seen $1 banknote from the now long defunct nation of Sarawak bearing the key-date of 1940 in crisp Good Fine condition.A banknote that one seldom sees being offered for sale online and even when an elusive piece does appear, the price always ballooned skywards, due to, perhaps too many interested parties chasing after 1 offered item!

Sarawak 1919 10 Cents Emergency Issue

***A rather scarce & unusual 10 Cents Emergency banknote from the now defunct nation of Sarawak issued a century ago, printed on thick gray card. This banknote, even though well-circulated, is still in very crisp condition.
A UNC piece was auctioned 2 years ago for more than US$10K and the price of this UNC piece should be very much higher now, perhaps, might have even doubled pricewise.

Sarawak 1929 $25
***A rare $25 banknote dated 1929 from the now defunct nation of Sarawak. An excellent piece of banknote in very crisp and firm paper.
Can one actually purchase this banknote if one were to strictly adhere to the prices quoted in the various local money catalogues or one would have to wait until kingdom come if one does so?!
